About Mendel's Antique Jewellery

I founded Mendel's Antique Jewellery in 2023 after working as an art dealer for six years. My unwavering passion for jewellery started when I was 12 when I inherited an 18ct yellow gold Omega Seamster de Ville from my grandfather. He was an avid collector in his own right and as I spent hours with him learning about his coins, cigarette cards, watches, books, and varied curiosities, I developed a thirst for knowledge. My parents founded an art dealership in 1991 and shared the same fascination for objects and art which I grew up around. I continue to work in the art world as a freelance curator, art dealer and also manage one of the UK's most important collections of surrealist art by women (RAW) which loans artworks to museums worldwide.

Today, my focus is Georgian and Victorian jewellery which especially captivates me for the quality of the craftsmanship and rich history, but I can appreciate well-made jewellery from all eras and occasionally fall in love with a modern piece which you will also find listed on the website. I like to think that Mendel’s is traditional in its commitment to sourcing, preserving and celebrating antique jewellery as something of true value yet also has a modern appeal. Buying antique jewellery is not only far more sustainable than buying new, it allows the buyer to own something truly unique.
