We have a 7-day return policy on all purchases from the date of sale. Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer. You may be able to return your item after 7 days for store credit but this is at our discretion. Items on sale cannot be returned.
Bank transfers are preferred but for your convenience, we have partnered with Stripe which accepts all major credit cards and PayPal.
Yes! We understand that payment plans may be preferable when buying jewellery. This can be customised to your needs and paid over a maximum of 48 months interest-free. If you would like us to hold a piece and pay in full at a later date, we can do this for up to 8 weeks with a 10% non-refundable deposit.
Our usual arrangements are as follows:
- 6 months of interest-free payments for purchases over £1,000
- 12 months of interest-free payments for purchases over £2,000
- 18 months of interest-free payments for purchases over £3,000
- 24 months of interest-free payments for purchases over £4,000
- 48 months of interest-free payments for purchases over £5,000

Absolutely. All pieces are thoroughly checked before being offered for sale. At Mendel's, pieces that can be worn daily are especially valued and in this spirit, we do offer composite pieces and "re-imagined" pieces. This means you may find a Victorian ring which has been restored or had a modern shank added to it at some point. This will always be made clear in the description. Typically, when jewellery was passed down through generations, pieces were re-fashioned to suit their new owners. This adds richness and history to the piece and when correctly described becomes part of its provenance and charm. Of course, this is not true for all categories. Watches are entirely different in this regard (you would absolutely want to know if your watch had an aftermarket dial or bezel as this would dramatically affect its value!). Other pieces can be so rare that wearing them would affect their value too. However, the antique jewellery listed here is to be worn and enjoyed first and foremost.
Yes, this is encouraged. Jewellery doesn't always photograph well and it is difficult to get an idea of size. Please request as many additional photographs or videos as you want. It is never a problem.

It's simple. Email us the name of the recipient and address you would like the certificate sent to and we will take care of the rest. They will receive a beautiful card in the post or by email with a handwritten note of your choice (or simply specifying the amount) and when they have made their choice, we will send them their gift or invoice them the remaining amount if needed. Gift card purchases are to be paid upfront or through interest-free instalments from the date of the purchase with us. Any amount, no expiry date!
Yes! Within the UK a standard fee of £10 will be added on to orders of less than £1,000. Orders above £1,000 ship for free. For worldwide shipping, a fee of £30 will be added to your order.
Yes, we do offer resizing and will be able to advise on whether this is possible for the ring in question (enamel rings with writing for example should not be re-sized). Please allow 2 weeks.
